Update from UK Tour

EVILE frontman MATT DRAKE reports from the road:

"Hello all, Matt here with a quick update from halfway through our UK headlining tour. So far no major accidents, we've made it to all the gigs and it's going pretty smoooooth. Mutant and Trigger the Bloodshed are excellent guys to be sharing a tour bus with, good company and it's a pleasure having them along to blow peoples faces off. The shows have been way beyond my expectations so far, I honestly never expected the amount of people that have been showing up so thank you to everyone for coming along and showing your support for Evile.

"We've been enjoying playing the new tracks live as well, the first of the two we've been playing, 'Demolition', is feeling more and more comfortable each time we play it, and it's been going down pretty well. It's not in the finished form it will be on the album and we haven't exactly perfected playing it yet but you get the idea of where it's going! Out of the new songs we've got for the next album we chose to play 'Demolition' because we figured it would be a good introduction to what to expect from our next recording, but in saying that each song is pretty unique so people still really aren't going to be able to guess what the next album will be like by hearing just that new song.

"Back to the tour and we have the last half to go, we're looking forward to the Camden Underworld gig, last time we played there with Exodus it was mental so we're hoping to have that kind of reaction again, with it being our first proper headline tour it's pretty daunting headlining the Underworld but it's also bloody cool so we can't wait for it. Again thanks to everyone for showing up and thanks in advance to those people planning to show up.

"Also looking forward to getting to Hammerfest in Wales, playing on the same bill as the mighty Opeth and Sepultura at the mighty venue of PONTINS, and having our first day off on the Saturday so we can wander around and check out some bands that we haven't had chance to see yet, luckily we don't clash with Opeth so people can come watch us and then leg it as fast as humanly possible with us among the mob to bask in the glory that is Opeth."

Pre-Production with Russ Russell - Pics

From Matt:

"We've just finished up two long days of pre-production on our upcoming album with Russ Russell in a dark basement in our hometown where we've done a lot of writing, re-writing, tweaking, re-tweaking, arguing and un-tweaking and we've come away extremely happy with this bunch of new songs we've been kicking around since last year.

"It always bugs me when bands talk up their upcoming album by saying the same things everyone else does like it's heavier and more broooootal and so on, so all I want to say is we're excited about what we're working on and it feels like a natural progression from our first effort, you'll all be able to make up your own minds on all that though when it's released later this year. Until then we'll keep everyone updated on developments from the studio in May, show you the artwork and all that jif, do a little dance for you, and we're planning to road test some of the new material on our U.K. tour which starts April 15 in Birmingham, so if you're heading down to any of the shows we'll see you there!"

Evile to work with RUSS RUSSELL

EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake checks in with some details on the band's highly anticipated second offering: "We're very glad to announce we'll be working with the brilliant Russ Russell on the next release at Parlour Studios, U.K. Russ has produced excellent work with bands such as NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, THE EXPLOITED and many more. We've known Russ for a few years now. We first met him in London at one of our shows where he expressed how much he'd like to work with us sometime, and that time has come. I believe Russ can bring us a very interesting sound and approach to the new material which we're writing. Expect a very crushing and interesting album! The cover art will also be very crushing and interesting! Definitely one for vinyl!"

He continues, "We've been working non-stop on the new EVILE material since before the MEGADETH tour last February. We're even into the demo process of the new album. Just last weekend we recorded the first three demo tracks we completed first. Looking back on what we've been writing, it's surprising how diverse and different the material has got since starting on the first 'album 2' song. Don't worry, it's thrash, we're just trying to use our brains more than our 'ripped jeans.'"

EVILE are set to embark on their first full headlining U.K. tour in April with support from WARPATH and MUTANT (check the gigs section for dates/tickets).

With regards to the tour, Ol Drake states: "Even though this is probably expected of us, I thought it only right for us to confirm we'll be playing new material on our upcoming April U.K./Ireland tour, as we've been playing the same old songs for the past 8 million years! See you all on the road soon!" EVILE's debut album, "Enter The Grave", was recently reissued as a special redux edition, including a guitar pick, "Enter The Grave" patch and an exclusive two-hour bonus DVD.
